AMD leads gains, Tesla and SpaceX climb as chipmakers split

AMD, Tesla and SpaceX posted the session's biggest gains on 2026-09-08 while NVIDIA, Visa and JPMorgan led a shallower pullback among the rest of the watchlist.

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) was the session’s standout, rising 5.9% to close at 505.74. Tesla (TSLA) added 4% to 368.16, and SpaceX (SPCX) gained 3.7% to settle at 153.47.

On the other side of the ledger, NVIDIA (NVDA) fell 2% to 225.73, the largest decline on the list. Visa (V) slipped 1.7% to 368.64, JPMorgan Chase (JPM) declined 1.4% to 353.51, and both Apple (AAPL) and Microsoft (MSFT) eased 1.2%, closing at 316.22 and 493.95 respectively.

Elsewhere, moves were modest. UnitedHealth Group (UNH) edged up 0.9% to 400.84, while Amazon.com (AMZN) and Meta Platforms (META) each slipped less than 1%, to 256.97 and 613.48. Alphabet (GOOGL) was essentially unchanged, closing at 338.36.
