NVIDIA and Meta lead gains as SpaceX and Microsoft slip

NVIDIA and Meta Platforms led the watchlist higher on Sept. 2, while SpaceX and Microsoft posted the session's biggest declines in an otherwise mixed day.

The watchlist was mixed on September 2, with technology names providing most of the session’s upside. NVIDIA (NVDA) and Meta Platforms (META) posted the largest gains of the day, while Visa (V) also advanced. On the downside, SpaceX (SPCX) and Microsoft (MSFT) recorded the steepest declines, though both moves stayed within a point of the prior close on a percentage basis.

The remainder of the group was largely flat. UnitedHealth Group (UNH), Alphabet (GOOGL), JPMorgan Chase (JPM) and Tesla (TSLA) each closed with modest gains, while Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Apple (AAPL) slipped slightly. Amazon.com (AMZN) was essentially unchanged on the day.

No move in the watchlist exceeded 3.2% in either direction, keeping the overall tone of the session subdued despite the divergence between the day’s leaders and laggards.

Notable movers

NVIDIA (NVDA) was the day’s top mover, closing at $224.41, up 3.2% from the prior close of $217.44.

Meta Platforms (META) rose 2.5% to close at $592.85, adding $14.31 from its prior close.

Visa (V) gained 1.5%, closing at $378.40 versus a prior close of $372.67.

SpaceX (SPCX) was the day’s biggest decliner, falling 1.1% to $140.71 from a prior close of $142.23.
