Trading on the watchlist was mixed on August 19, with gains led by Tesla, Inc. (TSLA) and losses concentrated in chip and healthcare names. Tesla closed at $351.12, up 4.2% from its prior close, the largest move of the session in either direction. Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN) and Apple Inc. (AAPL) also advanced, closing up 2.5% and 2.2% respectively.
On the downside, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) closed at $466.42, down 3.7%, the steepest decline on the list. SpaceX (SPCX) slipped 2.6% to $139.65, and NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA) eased 1%, giving the semiconductor group a soft tone overall. JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) and UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (UNH) also finished lower, down 1.6% and 1.4%.
The remainder of the watchlist was largely flat. Microsoft Corporation (MSFT), Meta Platforms, Inc. (META), Visa Inc. (V) and Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL) all closed within a percentage point of their prior-day levels, closing at $484.31, $546.03, $365.54 and $344.72 respectively.
